Children love using technology and are learning to navigate websites, online games and consoles, and touch screen technology like iPads and smartphones from a younger and younger age.

Latest Ofcom research has shown that 94% of 5-15 year olds live in a household with internet access and over a third of all 3-4 year olds are now accessing the internet in their homes. We know that children need support in these environments, to get the best out of using the internet, and there are real advantages in making sure that children are supported in their internet use right from the start.

Childnet’s eight frequently asked questions will provide you with useful information and tips that you can put in to place at home, to help keep your youngest children safe online.

It was lovely to see so many children enjoying the Go Noodle club at lunchtime today.  The staff even joined in for a short time!  Thank you to all the pupils from Years 1 and 2 who came along to the lunchtime club.  Hope to see you there again next week.

Welcome09-09-2017 | 10:24:24 | Comments Off on Welcome

First of all, we would like to say a huge ‘welcome’ to our new pupils (and parents!) in Nursery and Reception but also to our new starters in other year groups as well. We hope that you are already starting to feel ‘settled in’. We are delighted that you are now part of our school community and we are looking forward to working with you during your time with us.

Also, ‘welcome back’ to the rest of our pupils (and parents). We hope you have managed to have a good summer break, recharge the batteries and are raring to go again this year. After a super first week back, that certainly looks like the case!

We hope everybody enjoys our blog. For those who are using it for the first time, in addition to our main page, each year group have their own section where you can see regular updates of what the children have been doing in school. Whenever there is a new blog post, a link will automatically be posted in the Werrington Primary School Facebook and Twitter pages.

Reception and Y5 Buddies06-09-2017 | 15:54:08 | 4 Comments

This Year the Y5 children have been buddied up with the children in Reception to help them settle into their new school routine.

This week they have been helping out at lunch time, helping their buddy to choose their lunch and using their cutlery. Then they go outside and play together for a while so the Reception children have a familiar face on the ‘big‘ playground.

The younger children are loving having someone older to look up to and all they wanted to know today was “Are we having dinner with our buddies again?!”. We have never seen Reception children cope so well at dinner time! The Year 5 children are enjoying their new responsibility and have been setting a very good example to the little ones.

Well done Reception and thank you Y5!
