Werrington Primary School

 We are delighted to inform you that Werrington Primary has been selected as an official panel member  ( one of only 300 schools ) for the Royal Society’s Young People’s Book Prize 2018.

The President, Council and Fellows of the Royal Society of London for Improving Natural Knowledge, commonly known as the Royal Society, is a learned society. Founded in November 1660, it was granted a royal charter by King Charles II as “The Royal Society”. It is the oldest national scientific institution in the world.

Yesterday, our Science Ambassadors had an amazing trip to Keele University where Scott Walker and his colleagues showed us the laboratories, did a question and answer session, before finally letting us try an exciting science experiment.  All ambassadors behaved impeccably and they impressed the scientists with their science knowledge.

Today we decided to see how our trees were getting on. They had certainly grown and were doing well, however there were some that needed a bit of TLC. So we used our green-fingers to help them by clearing some of the grass around them and adjusting their coverings. They looked a lot happier after a little care. Super job Forest School Club!

The whole school were engrossed in this afternoon’s performance of ‘The Jungle Book’ which was brought to us by M and M Theatrical Productions.

We clapped and cheered in all the right places and some of us were amazed to learn that all the characters were played by just four different actors – amazing! 

We look forward to seeing them again next year.

We made the most of the sunshine in today’s Forest Schools Club by trying our hand at building a den. It was tricky to get it to stand without falling but we managed it in the end. We celebrated our efforts with a few games of hide and seek too!
